ABSTRACT

World Dairy Industry Point Four Program and Surplus Disposal Plan Launched by International Dairy Industry Group

A dynamic industry-spearheaded plan to insure an equitable and profitable distribution of the world's surplus dairy products to "have not" countries, and in turn enable the recipient countries to trade their own products for life-giving and lifesaving milk foods, was made public recently by Dairy Industries Society, International.

Presented by George O. Tiffany of Stamford, Conn., president of the world dairy group, the plan, calling for an industry Point IV program as well as a world surplus milk pool, both to be administered by the society or a nonprofit corporate subsidiary, was approved by the board of directors of the society at a meeting in Washington, D. C., on Dec. 17. Under this program, the society will set up two new entities, a World Dairy Foundation and a trading organization, World Milk Utilization, Inc.
