Studies on Ketosis in Dairy Cattle. IX. Therapeutic Effect of Adrenal Cortical Extracts

J. C. Shaw

Department of Dairy Industry, Storrs Agricultural Experiment Station, Storrs, Connecticut

ABSTRACT

Conclusions: Four cows with ketosis, when treated with an extract of the adrenal cortex, responded immediately with an improvement in appetite and a return of the blood glucose and acetone bodies toward the normal values. However, an adrenal insufficiency is not necessarily believed to be indicated.
