ABSTRACT
Conclusion: Aside from the edematous swelling there was nothing about the appearance of the udder of cow No. 848 at any time to indicate any significant abnormality and all four quarters of the udder were functioning at the time of slaughter. The point that stands out as of particular interest is the fact that the intense swelling, which occurred in the udder of this cow at calving time apparently was edematous in nature, and that it did not appear to invade or affect the secreting tissue to any appreciable extent, but on the contrary was confined chiefly to the space between the glandular tissue and the skin.
