American Dairy Science Association Announcements

ABSTRACT

Western Division

The proceedings of the meeting of the Western Division of the American Dairy Science Association have been mimeographed in full, including all papers presented. The meeting was held in the Multnomah Hotel in Portland, Oregon, on October 22, with G. H. Wilster presiding.

In the manufacturing section papers were presented on raw versus pasteurized milk for brick cheese by A. J. Morris, on chlorine sterilization by C. S. Mudge, on mastitis and curd tension by H. C. Hansen, on butter quality by J. A. Nelson, on vitamin D milk by C. L. Roadhouse, and on dairy farm milk coolers by Hans Hoffman. In the production section papers were presented on artificially dried pasture herbage by J. C. Knott and R. E. Hodgson, on grazing habits of dairy cows by R. E. Hodgson, on some unsolved feeding problems by I. R, Jones, on the need for simplification of testing dairy cows for production by E. V. Ellington, on the extension program by D. L. Fourt, and on new ideas for dairy cattle shows by H. M. King.
